Whenever I go to the grocery store and see a good avocado sale, I put more than I can possibly consume in my grocery cart. If the avocados are already ripe, they’ll be good for a few days before they start to spoil. Putting them in the fridge extends their life a bit but not by too much. What do you do if you buy more avocados than you can eat and they’re starting to spoil? You don’t want to just throw them in the trash.

Thankfully, YouTuber Jodi Brown has devised a simple solution to help you preserve your avocados for much longer than before.

As she demonstrates in the video, she has discovered a way to freeze avocados and preserve their freshness. This is a much learn for every avocado fan.

First you’re going to need to cut them in half like Jodi did. Then you need to clean them up and freeze them individually.

She scoops out the avocado meat and then places it on a cookie sheet.

TIP: The most nutritious part of the avocado is the dark green part near the skin.
Jodi plans to freeze the avocado halves overnight. She slides a spatula underneath if they stick. Then with the individually frozen pieces, she tosses them all into a bag.

TIP: Freezing individually keeps them accessible. They won’t freeze into a big bunch.
Now every time you need an avocado for a smoothie, you can take it out of the freezer and pop it into your blender.
