The German car manufacturer is the third big-name sponsor to halt sponsorship for athlete, Maria Sharapova.
“We regret the news about Maria Sharapova. Until more details are known and we can analyse the situation, we have decided to suspend planned activities (with her),” said a representative from Porsche.
Before the huge car company distanced itself from the tennis star, Swiss TAG Heuer had first announced they would no longer sign another contract with the female athlete. The US sportswear maker Nike, also stated that they are suspending all their lined up projects with her.
Maria Sharapova admitted in the Australian Open on Monday that she tested positive for Meldonium. She has taken this drug since 2006 but was banned recently (effective January 01, 2016).
