Stephen William Hawking or Stephen Hawking was born in the 8th day of January in the year 1942 in Oxford, England. He is a writer and an actor who is known for his Hawking (2013), Stephen Hawking’s Universe (1997), and A Brief History of Time (1991). He has lots of scientific works including the collaboration with Roger Penrose on the gravitational singularity theorems in general relativity framework as well as on theoretical prediction wherein the black holes are responsible for emitting radiation and commonly called as Hawking radiation.
He is considered as the first to set the theory of cosmology which is explained by the union of quantum mechanics and general theory of relativity. He is also a supporter of various quantum mechanics interpretation. Stephen Hawking is one of the Honorary Fellow of Royal Society of Arts and lifetime members of Pontifical Academy of Sciences. His works have great contributions and it is evident on the awards and recognition that he has received such as Presidential Medal of Freedom which is considered to be the highest civilian award in US.
As a Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the prestigious university, University of Cambridge from the year 1979 until 2009, he has achieved professional and commercial success which gave him popularity. Some of his works revolved in popular sciences wherein he discusses some of his theories as well as cosmology. On the other hand, Stephen Hawking suffered from a form of ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly called as Lou Gehrig’s disease or motor neuron disease which was the reason why he became paralyzed for decades. He also experienced clumsiness in his final years in Oxford such as difficulties when he was rowing and fall on the stairs.
Hi did not let his disability ruin his career that is why he is able to survive and continue what he started. He continued all his writings wherein he published a book entitled The Universe in a Nutshell in the year 2001 and God Created the Integers that appeared in the year 2006. He also traveled in different places of the world wherein he reached Spain, South Africa, Easter Island, Chile, United States, and Canada. This let him to have wider perspectives on what the world around him is. But due to his disability, of often travelled by means of his private jet and in the year 2001, this has become his mode for travelling internationally.
Stephen Hawking believes that the universe is mainly governed by laws of science and it is seen in his various works that he published over the past years. He also believes that those laws are decreed but God, yet God does not mainly intervene in order to break all those laws. Stephen Hawking made great contributions in general relativity and was able to prove various theorems that are used by today’s modern scientists. He is indeed one of the men behind the success of science and proved that disability is not a hindrance in achieving success in life.
